Newsmax Rising Bestsellers – Week of Feb. 26, 2024

[ad_1]

With antisemitism on the rise in colleges and universities, corporate boardrooms, legacy media, and even the halls of Congress, two selections in this week’s Newsmax Rising Bestsellers could be a real eye-opener. The first is a rabbi’s call-to-arms to respond to the rising tide directed against all things and people who are Jewish. Another describes one of the Third Reich’s most despicable war criminals — a female who oversaw the murder of hundreds of thousands of Jews during the Holocaust. A third offering, by a presidential candidate, describes what some consider a cover-up of gain-of-function research financed by American taxpayers, secretly funneled to China by U.S. public health officials. There is also an easy-to-follow guide to achieve financial security. But before those, there is the first in a new series of mysteries, centered on the work of a private investigative firm with familiar names.

Holmes, Marple & Poe: The Greatest Crime-Solving Team of the Twenty-First Century,” by James Patterson & Brian Sitts (Little, Brown and Company)

This is the first of a new series of mystery-thrillers, centered on a New York City-based crime-solving private investigative firm headed by three principles:

  • Brendan Holmes — The Brain: Identifies suspects via deduction and logic.
  • Margaret Marple — The Eyes: Possesses powers of observation too often underestimated.
  • Auguste Poe — The Muscle: Chases down every lead no matter how dangerous or dark.

Holmes, Marple & Poe. With three famous last names like that working together, how can they go wrong? And indeed, they always seem to be at least one step ahead of law enforcement. But as the trio solve one crime after another, their actual backgrounds remain a mystery. “This crime fighting trio certainly are credits to their famous names,” said Catherine Gillis, reviewing for Amazon. “Their individual talents combined to solve more cases in one book than other PIs could only dream of! However, these were not superheroes. Each was a human being, each with his/her own demons. I hope this is not the one and only book from this trio. (James) Patterson and (Brian) Sitts hit it out of the park!” [Fiction]

Israel Warrior: Fighting Back for the Jewish State from Campus to Street Corner,” by Shmuley Boteach (Skyhorse)

The struggle of the Jewish state isn’t merely taking place in the Middle East. It’s also being waged all over the world as a campaign to combat misinformation and antisemitism, argues Shmuley Boteach. Even after the Oct. 7 Hamas terrorist attack that resulted in the murder of 1,400 innocent Israeli citizens, from infants to the elderly, chants of “from the river to the sea” persist. “I will re-read this book,” said Joanne Bartosh in her Amazon review. “There is so much I want to commit to memory. We forget and are no longer educated in this country about the existential struggle between good and evil. The PC police have us all cowed. Thanks for an awesome book!” [Nonfiction]

Mistress of Life and Death: The Dark Journey of Maria Mandl, Head Overseer of the Women’s Camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau,” by Susan J. Eischeid (Citadel)

This gripping account describes the descent of “a nice girl from a good family,” to become one of the few female perpetrators of the Holocaust — “The Beast” of Auschwitz — where she is believed to have been directly complicit in the deaths of over 500,000 prisoners. After the war she was captured, publicly tried, and executed by hanging for crimes against humanity. “I have read countless books on the Holocaust and always, always find information nearly impossible to process in its hideous cruelty. This all-sensory book does not gloss over terrible and graphic details and is so descriptive I wept at the despair of the innocents,” said Brenda, in her five-star GoodReads review. “I highly, highly recommend reading this book if you feel the need to know more about this despicable time in history. It will definitely challenge and shake you. Do prepared for cold, raw reality. But the reward is great.” [Nonfiction]

The Wuhan Cover-Up: And the Terrifying Bioweapons Arms Race,” by Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (Skyhorse)

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has written what may be called a follow-up to his New York Times bestseller, “The Real Anthony Fauci.” He describes in detail from his meticulous research, how the United States secretly funded gain-of-function experiments in Wuhan, China, which is known to be an experimental bioweapons laboratory. In “Wuhan Cover-Up” readers will be exposed to:

  • The key enablers and henchmen pushing for gain-of-function research;
  • The economic motives behind gain-of-function research;
  • successfully engineered “chimeric viruses” that can infect and kill humans;
  • The coordinated effort to silence speculation of COVID-19’s laboratory genesis;
  • The complicity of scientific journals to hide the origins of COVID-19;
  • The role of the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China’s biowarfare/biodefense program;
  • The relationships between U.S. health, military, and intelligence bureaucracies and scientists and their Chinese counterparts;
  • The roles of Bill Gates and Sir Jeremy Farrar in enabling a global cover-up.

“What is revealing is how the orchestrators/managers of this event profited from their actions and how (I believe) it clouded their judgement,” wrote Mark Harbour in his GoodReads review. “It does raise the question to me of what are the values that our leaders use as the foundation for their decisions?” [Nonfiction]
