An interview former President Donald Trump purportedly did Thursday is raising red flags — as viewers question whether the voice heard was actually him or a deep fake.
The 77-year-old — if it was him — spoke with an uncharacteristic lisp and at a higher pitch than usual throughout the 17-minute long phone interview with Real America’s Voice hosts John Solomon and Amanda Head.
“Sounds like ChatGOP to me,” Robert Sigg, president of Performance One Media, which owns the right-leaning network, told the Daily Beast when asked about the strange interview.
Sigg added that an “internal investigation will be needed” to tell whether his network was fooled by an imposter or artificial intelligence.
Solomon, however, insisted to the Daily Beast that it was the real Trump on the line.
The Trump campaign did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Real America’s Voice posted the entire interview and several clips of it on X, formerly known as Twitter, which remain online as of late Thursday.
“I don’t know who did this interview, but it does not sound like Donald Trump,” Matt Wolking, the strategic communications director for the Never Back Down political action committee, tweeted after watching one clip.
“This just sounds bizarre,” Matt Whitlock, a former GOP Senate staffer, tweeted and offered three possible explanations.
“1) he’s very sick 2) this is AI 3) they had the staffer with the best impression handle this interview,” he speculated.
“Trump either has a head cold or someone else filled in for him,” conservative commentator Erick Erickson tweeted.
“Trump is having AI do interviews for him!” another accused.
“His cadence is off it sounds like AI,” a user on Rumble, which livestreamed the show, similarly remarked.
The voice purporting to be Trump argued that Democrats are interfering in his 2024 White House bid by targeting him with indictments and lawsuits.
“If I was doing badly in the polls, I would have no litigation right now,” the voice said. “If I wasn’t running, I’d have no litigation right now.”
