Tuberville to Newsmax: Keep Politics Out of the Military

Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., voiced apprehensions about the impact of political influence on the military, particularly with the newly appointed Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Q. Brown Jr.

In an interview with Newsmax on Wednesday, Tuberville highlighted the potential consequences of injecting politics into the military, stating, “If we don’t keep politics out of our military, they’ll [Democrats] ruin it like they did with education, border, crime, everything else in our country.”

Concerns about Gen. Brown’s leadership and the example he sets were raised during the interview. Tuberville, a member of the Armed Services Committee, emphasized the importance of keeping politics out of the military, asserting that it is jeopardizing the strength of the nation’s armed forces.

“He came through to be certified as our new, I guess, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, and his only job is to give recommendations to the president on certain situations. Obviously, we’re in a tough one as we speak about what’s going on in the Middle East,” he said.

“I’m very concerned that the number one thing is that our leaders are top leaders in the military,” he said. “They have to get politics out of the military. They are ruining what should be the best and the strongest military in the world, and we’re going the opposite way,” Tuberville explained.

During an appearance on “Greg Kelly Reports,” Tuberville further expressed his worry about the military’s recruitment struggles, particularly among Southern Christian youths. He stated, “We can’t recruit hardly anybody. These kids, especially Southern kids, not race, but Southern Christian kids usually make up most of the military in the country, especially the army. They’re not joining, but I don’t think they [Democrats] want them. I don’t think they want them in the military. I think they just [say] hey, stay out of it. We want people that will follow our line of wokeism.”

Tuberville alleged that efforts to introduce social justice into the military were undermining its effectiveness. He claimed to have discussed these concerns with high-ranking military officials, saying, “I’ve talked to generals and admirals about things that are going on in our military. A lot of them swear they don’t see a lot of it, but we know it’s going on. We know that things are going on where they’re trying to infiltrate. You know, all this social justice into the military.”
